Paint, ink, brushes, poetry, short stories, and a vivid imagination fill my creative toolbox. As a writer and visual artist, I’ve learned a picture is truly worth a thousand words. Painting allows me to communicate my experience of the world in a way that words cannot. Most often, the endless beauty of Muskoka, Ontario, provides the inspiration for my acrylic, watercolour, oil and Chinese ink paintings.
When I’m at the easel, time loses all meaning, and, as if by magic, the brush draws forth images hidden in the fibres of the canvas or paper. My goal is to entice the viewer into the painting, to experience my story, or one of his or her own imaginings. I also hope my work increases awareness of our interdependence on the fragile, natural world around us. To that end, a portion of the sale of all my paintings supports the rehabilitation work at Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.
